Fitbit Charge 2 Waterproof – Does it Measure Up to Expectations?

3 min read

The Fitbit Charge 2 comes with many features that make it a popular fitness watch. This watch has a heart rate monitoring, calorie counter and will track your exercise. The only feature missing is a foot pod, but the Charge 2 comes with a removable wrist band. The watch can be paired with the Apple iPhone or Android devices for wireless heart rate monitoring. You can also track your workout progress on the internet.

Many fitness watches have limited capabilities. Most are strictly cardiovascular based. The Fitbit Charge 2 waterproof will track your heart rate during your workout and give you a visual on how you are doing. However, it can’t be submerged in water for too long, like when you dive or swim. It’s not a complete fitness level monitor as it doesn’t track your total calories burned or your distance covered.

I have been a big fan of the fitbit charge 2 waterproof since it arrived. Most of my activities while hiking and running were done on trails or roads so I had to carry an alternative heart rate monitor with me. With this watch, I don’t need to. On top of that, I can still track my mileage and the distance covered with the pedometer feature on the watch. No more reading labels or weighing adapters!

I like that most fitbit charge 2 waterproof trackers will work with any type of computer or smartphone. I’ve tried many different trackers over the years and most can only track the distance you cover while walking or hiking. Some are also just basic GPS devices that let you know your direction but won’t tell you how fast you are going. This waterproof style is perfect for me because I can use it whether I’m out in the open or at the beach.

My favorite thing about the Fitbit Charge 2 waterproof is that I can use it when my clothes get wet. Unlike some other waterproof watches, I can go swimming even if it’s near the pool. That was a major concern for me. I live in Florida and have had many occasions where the pool has water in it. I worry that my GPS will be ruined by the water, so I can’t wear these watches in the rain.

The Fitbit Charge 2 also works as a basic pedometer. This means that I can track my pace while exercising. I’m a fast runner so I needed a way to measure how far I’m running and I can do this without a foot pedal if I have my watch on. This is great because I can keep track of my speed and calories burned all day without having to stop and recharge the battery.

In addition to the built in pedometer and heart rate monitor, the fitbit charge 2 also includes a sleep tracking feature. While I don’t think this is necessary, I definitely want to be able to track how I sleep at night. This makes for a great way to better understand how I sleep and if I’m getting enough rest. For someone who is into fitness, this is a feature I definitely look for.

Overall, the fitbit charge 2 waterproof is really the only waterproof GPS trackers on the market today that I could consider buying. While other models may be able to work in relatively wet areas, I find that my units work great in drier environments. When you’re trying to workout in the water, it can be frustrating if your equipment can’t stay dry. Fitbit makes great products that work well no matter where you use them.
